Simple Bridal Shower Shortbread Recipe
Here's a really easy shortbread cookie recipe for you to try.
Ingredients
2 cups (8 ounces) all-purpose flour
Third cup (3 ounces) superfine sugar (caster sugar)
5 ounces butter
A pinch of salt
Extra flour, for dusting
A little extra superfine sugar for sprinkling
You will also need
A baking sheet
A cookie cutter
How to make
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (180 degrees centigrade).
2. Sift the flour, salt and sugar into a large mixing bowl.
3. Cut the butter into smallish pieces; then add to the flour mixture.
4. With a pastry cutter or blender, a knife or your fingertips, work the butter and flour together until it's well blended and begins to form a ball of dough.
5. Lightly dust a pastry board or clean surface with flour.
6. Roll out the dough until it's about half an inch thick.
7. Using a round, fluted or fun shaped cookie cutter cut out your shortbread cookies.
8. Carefully transfer each cookie to the baking sheet.
9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until pale gold.
10. Then remove from the oven and sprinkle each shortbread cookie with superfine sugar.
11. Leave the cookies to cool for a few minutes; then transfer them to a wire cooling rack.
